Mijas Pueblo is a delightful village located 430m above sea level overlooking the coast midway between the bustling vibrant city of Malaga and glitzy Marbella.
Mijas is a very pretty traditional Spanish village with its whitewashed houses and cobbled streets. It boasts outstanding views and a fabulous climate. There are two town squares ( plazas) home to a number of independent shops selling handicrafts plus tapas bars and restaurants. Mijas offers excellent walking routes with an abundance of flora and fauna, good biking trails, the Lew Hoad Campo de Tennis, nearby superb golf courses and beaches for swimming, sailing, kite and windsurfing. You can even be skiing in the Sierra Nevada within 2 ½ hours by road!
Fuengirola is a 10 minute drive or a short bus ride. It is a Spanish town on 5 miles of sandy beach with its “chiringuito” restaurants offering beachside fresh fish and seafood. Shops include all the top retail names plus lots of independent fashion stores. There is also a multiscreen cinema offering films in english. Fuengirola also has suberb tapas bars and restaurants.
Fundamentally Mijas is an escape from the noise, congestion and cold weather. The tranquil village of Mijas with its bright blue skies and sunshine mean an outdoor life most days and dining “al fresco” There are lots of fiestas and ferias, and above all Mijas locals are smiling helpful, happy people.
